It’s that time of year—Fall. Leaves are turning, there is a chill in the air (well, not this year!) and Thanksgiving is just weeks away. Fall ushers in Stewardship season at First Presbyterian Church. Stewardship season gives us the chance to learn how we can responsibly oversee and protect something considered worth caring for and preserving, the kingdom of God. God owns it all, we are stewards, and we have a responsibility to manage it for His glory.
In the following pages each council has provided a narrative to invite the congregation to be a part of the ministries’ conversations–not only informing what has been accomplished but offer prayers of thanks for support and encouragement as First Presbyterian looks ahead to 2018. Sundays October 22, 29, & November 5, elders and Stewardship committee members will be wearing “Ask Me…” tags to identify themselves. They are excited to answer questions and share more in-depth information about their councils and stewardship opportunities. Great things are being done at First Presbyterian. Your support is vital in maintaining current programming and missions. What else could be done?
It is our hope that you will read the pages that follow, ask questions and challenge yourself to give your time, talents and treasures. Whether it is funding to keep the lights on, sharing God’s love with our wee ones or serving a hot meal on Saturday at Jubilee Kitchen, you are needed! We thank you for your past stewardship and ask you to prayerfully consider your upcoming commitment. Can you “step up” this year?
Because you give, we can serve Christ and Neighbor in Winchester and beyond.
The Stewardship Committee
P.S. Please join us Sunday, November 12 between the 8am and 9am service or between Sunday School and the 11:15 service for a “Doughnut” celebration.
If you would like to submit a pledge, pledge cards for 2018 will be made available by early November in the back of the sanctuary, New Stone, Boyd Chapel and brochure racks. Place your completed pledge card in one of the envelopes provided and put it in the offering plate, or you can bring it to the church office. You may also submit a pledge online by clicking here (pledges will be sent confidentially to Jennifer White, our church bookkeeper).
